Allen upsets Lissowski 6-5 to reach final of English Championships


In the second semi-final of the 2022 Snooker UK Championship, Mark Allen played Lissowski and came back from 3-5 down in three games to make a 6-5 comeback and advance to the final to play Ding Junhui for the title.

Lissowski, who blasted four breakdowns in the quarter-finals, was battling with Mark Allen, who had previously won the Northern Ireland tournament, for the other ticket to the final, with Allen having won only one of their six previous meetings and Lissowski having won five in a row.

Lissowski was the first to open the scoring in the match, scoring 58 points in the first game to take an early 72-15 lead, and a 77-point clean sweep in the second game to take a quick 2-0 win. The third game was another single 60 for Lisowski, but Allen managed to clear the table for a 70-60 comeback. In the fourth game, Allen topped off with a 63 to win 73-28 to move to 2-2.


In the fifth game of the second half, Lisowski got on the board a couple of times to win 61-25 to win 3-2. Allen tied it up again in the sixth game, scoring 52 points in a single shot to win 95-42 3-3. Lissowski won the seventh game 4-3 after a 54 point shot to win 68-0 nil. Lissowski got on the board a couple of times in the eighth to win another game 77-23 and gain match point 5-3.

Allen then made a desperate comeback, hitting a 115-point break in the ninth game to win 122-6, and a single 74 in the 10th game to win 75-17 and chase down two match points in a row. In the deciding game, Allen won three games in a row to win 6-5 on aggregate and advance to the final against Ding Junhui, after Lissowski scored 57 points with a single shot to complete a 73-59 comeback.
